Join the Harmony Guzheng Ensemble at Bella Concert Hall for an unforgettable evening of traditional Chinese music blended with contemporary compositions. Founded in 2008, our Calgary-based ensemble showcases the timeless beauty of the Guzheng, a 21-string zither with over 2,500 years of history.

 

Experience masterful performances that celebrate cultural heritage and unity, bringing the evocative sounds of the Guzheng to life. This concert promises to inspire, delight, and connect people through the universal language of music.

 

It will feature:

🎵 A Multigenerational Performance – Over 30 performers from different generations will showcase diverse music styles with pieces like Jasmine Flower, The Four Great Classical Novels Suite, Chrysanthemum Terrace, and Butterfly Springs.

🎵 Energetic Ensemble Performance – Our younger members will present the powerful classic Fighting the Typhoon.

🎵 Traditional & Contemporary Guzheng Pieces – Experience the beauty of Guzheng with solo performances of Three-Six and Cold Crows Playing in the Water, as well as duets like Moonlit Night on the Spring River.

🎵 Special Guest Performances – The Calgary Friendship Band will bring classic Cantonese pieces such as Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon and Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake.

🎵 Vocal & Dance Collaborations – Renowned vocalist Yuan Yuan’s students will present children’s choir and Guzheng fusion performances of Big Fish and Mushroom Picking Dance, while celebrated dancer Maliya will perform a Xinjiang dance interpretation of The Song of Tianshan Mountains.
